The restored medieval gatehouse of Whittington Castle, Shropshire, paints an almost perfect picture of traditional England (or is that just me?). I love this view, with the swan in the foreground and the stone walls of the castle gatehouse beyond. As far as I know, Whittington Castle is the only medieval castle in Britain to be in community ownership.
