Artist's Description

Rievaulx Abbey was founded for the Cistercian order of monks in 1131, in a secluded valley on the fringe of the North York Moors. Over the medieval period Rievaulx became one of the wealthiest monasteries in England. Today the picturesque ruins are one of the most facinating and photogenic historic sites in Yorkshire.
