Artist's Description

Lindisfarne Castle rises on an outcrop of basalt, high above the rocky shore of Holy Island. Though the castle is authentic, much of what we see today is a result of late 19th century restoration. I have visited Holy Island on several occasions, and each time I'm struck with how photogenic the castle is!
