Glen Torridon is a magnificent location for landscape photography. You have to be prepared for practically anything - including incessant downpours. I drove into the glen hoping for a beautiful sunrise, but what I found was steady rain. I sat in my car wondering what to do when suddenly the sky cleared enough to allow a shaft of morning sun to strike the slopes of Liathach, and a brief rainbow appeared at the western end of the glen.

I bought my first 'serious' camera for a trip to the UK when I was in my 20s. That trip sparked not only a love affair with photography but a love affair with the wonderful landscape and heritage of Britain. Those twin loves have inspired me over the past several decades, as I've explored Britain from Orkney to Cornwall, and most points in between. I find my greatest satisfaction in taking photographs that capture something quintessentially 'British' about my adopted home. Over the past 15 years, I've developed the www.BritainExpress.com website to share my love of England, Scotland, and Wales, and have taken well over 295,000 images of the UK.
