Description
Castle Hedingham, Essex, built by the Norman lord Aubrey de Vere around 1130, is one of the finest surviving stone keeps in England. It retains its original banqueting hall with a later minstrel gallery. Quite apart from the fascinating history, the castle keep is incredibly photogenic, especially reflected in the long pond below the castle enclosure.
