The archetypal moated castle, Bodiam Castle was built in the mid 14th century in anticipation of a French invasion which never materialised. I came to Bodiam by river boat from Northiam, and had just 45 minutes to explore the castle before the boat left for its return journey. I got pretty luck with the light!
